Why a Cow?

I grew up on a working farm and ranch in Idaho. I was never the "cowgirl" in my family. In fact, instead of doing rodeo like my parents and siblings had I took up theatre, art, and music. I'm quite a few years younger than my siblings. So after my siblings moved out my parents suddenly found themselves attending plays and concerts instead of rodeos. All of my theatre activities finally lead to going to school to become a high school theatre teacher. Along the route I spent a summer as a camp counselor in Minnesota. There I taught theatre. I bunked with three other counselors. We were a bad joke waiting to happen.... a blonde, a brunette, a red head, and black hair... a Pagan, a Catholic, a Mormon, and a Jew. Regardless of our differences we all got a long spendidly. I got married when I returned home from camp but I still kept in touch with my co-counselors. One wrote me the next summer and told me about registering for college. She said she'd met a girl with long hair who kept talking about her cow and it reminded her of me.... but she wasn't quite sure why as I never talked about cows, let alone a specific cow. I laughed so hard at her letter and then I drew her the cartoon that is now a part of my blog title. Some how the image just stuck, and the blog title was born.
